     Bad News
 (album)
, 1987. Brian produced the album and two additional non-album tracks, and plays guitar on at least three tracks.

'Bad News' were a spoof heavy metal group comprising comedians Adrian Edmondson, Rik Mayall, Nigel Planer and Peter Richardson, who featured in two episodes of 'The Comic Strip' in 1983 and 1988. Instead of being a standard album of songs, the album is a collection of songs and arguments within the band while trying to record it. The 'Bad News' album was released in 1987, reissued in the USA on CD in 1989, again in the UK in 2004, and many of the tracks appear on 'The Cash In Compilation'. A second album, 'Bootleg', features just one track with a Brian connection. As well as the album Brian has made a number of live appearances with the group.

Due to the amount of dialogue and difficulties in deciphering it, this page only includes lyrics of the completed songs on the albums, rather than the arguments or half-complete tracks. - 'Bad News' (1987; some sources suggest that only certain tracks are listed on the sleeve)
Hey Hey Bad News / Vim Is Angry / Warriors Of Genghis Khan / Excalibur / Bohemian Rhapsody / Dividing Up The Spoils / Introducing The Band / Bad News / Hey Mr. Bassman / Hey Mr. Drummer / Masturbike / Trousers / Drink Till I Die

  - Bad News (1989 US CD) (includes the original album, the single version of 'Cashing In On Christmas', and the four tracks from 'Bootleg')
  - Bad News (2004 reissue CD) (includes the original album, two B-sides 'Pretty Woman' and 'Life With Brian', an alternate take of 'Bohemian Rhapsody', the Dub and single versions of 'Cashing In On Christmas', and four tracks from 'Bootleg')
  - The Cash In Compilation (1993 CD)
Hey Hey Bad News / Bad Dreams / Vim Is Angry / Warriors Of Genghis Khan / A.G.M / Bohemian Rhapsody / Pretty Woman / O Levels / Dividing Up The Spoils / Life With Brian / Introducing the Band / Bad News / Hey Mr. Bassman / Hey Mr. Drummer / Masturbike / Double Entendre / Trousers / Drink Till I Die / Cashing In On Christmas (Dub) - Bohemian Rhapsody (single version) / Life With Brian (September 1987, 7" single)

  - Cashing In On Christmas (Let's Bank Mix) / Cashing In On Christmas (single version) / Bad News (12" single) Finally, a video single was released on VHS only which included the promo video to 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and a sketch titled 'Every Mistake Imaginable'. - Bad News

   , 1987. Produced by Brian. Length 5:16.
Available on all releases of the 'Bad News' album, and 'The Cash In Compilation'. This track was clearly peformed live, in whole or in part, as it features the audience singing 'fuck off Bad News' throughout. Two, three, four
We are the four horsemen of the rock apocalypse
Leaders and saviours of the wild ride to oblivion and ecstasy
Good, now we four are met let us free the universe with our own peculiar brand of heavy metal

     Bohemian Rhapsody
   , 1987. Produced by Brian.
This song was previously recorded by Queen for the 1975 album 'A Night At The Opera'.
Available on all releases of the 'Bad News' album, and 'The Cash In Compilation', which includes one of the versions listed below.
The track may feature John Deacon on bass and backing vocals, but the extensive liner notes have no mention of him so it seems unlikely. 1. Original Version / Take 2 (3:34) (released on the 7" single and on all 'Bad News' albums; this is the full version)
  2. Single 'Alternate' Version (3:14) (on the 12" single only; this is the full single version, but with the ending from take 1)
  3. Take 1 (0:31) (on the 2004 CD and possibly the original album, but not the US CD; this fades in towards the end, Vim plays the wrong chord and the track ends abruptly, followed by an argument) Mama, I just killed a man
I put a gun upto his head
I pulled the trigger now he's dead
  Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away

  Mama, oooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
  I don't wanna die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, Scaramouche will you do the fandango?
Thunderbolts and lightning - very, very frightening me
  Gallileo, Gallileo
  Gallileo, Gallileo
  Gallileo, figaro - magnifico-o-o-o-oh

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go
Bismillah! No - we will not let you go, let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go, let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go, let me go
Will not let you go, let me go
Will not let you go, let him go
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no (absolutely not)
  Oh, mama mia, mama mia
  Mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me

  No

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?
Ooh, baby, can't do this to me baby
I just gotta get out - I just gotta get right outta here Nothing really matters
  Anyone can see
  Nothing really matters
  Nothing really matters to me
     Bad News
, 1987. Brian produced the track and appears to play guitar. Length 3:11.
Available on all releases of the 'Bad News' album, and 'The Cash In Compilation'.
This track includes a 'Brighton Rock' style guitar solo which sounds very Brian-esque so it is probable he plays on it. Bad news, bad news, bad news
For you, and you, and you, and you, and you
Bad news, bad news, bad news
For you, and you, and you, and you, and you

Can't you see, a devil woman
  Don't you know, black leather
  Don't you see, screaming virgins
Don't you know, a megawatt winged avenger

Bad news, bad news, bad news
For you, and you, and you, and you, and you

  Colin Grigson

  Spider Webb

     Life With Brian
, 1987. Brian plays guitar, and produced the track. Length 5:23.
Available on the 2004 reissue of the 'Bad News' album, 'The Cash In Compilation', and all formats of the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' single.
This is a heavy instrumental jam, with some dialogue, but it is mostly undecipherable. There is also an occasional lyric of 'life with Brian'.
     Pretty Woman
   , 1987. Produced by Brian. Length 2:51.
Available on the 2004 reissue of the 'Bad News' album, 'The Cash In Compilation', and as a bonus track on the 12" and CD singles of 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
This track was originally recorded by Roy Orbison, and reached no. 1 in 1964. Come along then, let's play
  Oh
Why do we have to be playing Pretty Woman
We don't even know the lyrics to Pretty Woman

Yeah, you just go Pretty Woman a lot, don't you?

Pretty woman, walking down the street, yeah that's it
Pretty woman, kind of girl I'd like to meet
Pretty woman, la, la, la, la pretty woman

Pretty woman, walking down the street
Pretty woman, walking down the street
Pretty woman, walking down the street

Pretty woman, walking down the street
Oh, pretty woman, walking down the street
Oh, pretty woman, walking down the street
Probably getting quite tired now, done such a lot of walking
Fucking woman keeps on walking down the fucking street
Oh look, do we have to have the swear words

Woman, pretty woman, walking down the fucking street (keep it clean)
Woman, woman, walking down the (beep) street
Why's she walking down the street

  Pretty woman

  Bass break (keep playing)

  Pretty woman
  Pretty woman
  Pretty woman
Ugly woman, walking down the street
Ugly woman, probably Colin Grigson's girlfriend

But she's probably not Colin Grigson's girlfriend because if she was she'd be much more attractive than that

  Oh, I'm bored with that

  2. Let's Bank Mix (6:52) (available on the 12" single only) (an extended version, which has a longer intro, more instrumental sections, repeated verses, a longer outro, and far more guitar from Brian)
  3. Dub Version (4:24) (available on the 2004 'Bad News' reissue, and the 'Bootleg' and 'The Cash In Compilation' albums) (this is basically the single version, with the band talking and arguing over the top, so Brian's contribution is unchanged)

  And when it appears
  We can challenge the world
With our sweat and our tears

  Through winning and losing
  Oh, the brave never bend
  And the hero keeps fighting
  Standing tall in the end

And time can heal anything, it can mend any fall
It's the moment of truth that's facing us all
And it's time for the hero to stand tall

  It's a time for heroes
  Time to answer the call
  It's a time for heroes
  In us all

  We carry the flame
  For all to see
And the fire and the passion of what we can be

  And sometimes we must fight
Oh, but we'll never, never bend
  And the hero keeps fighting
  Standing tall in the end

And love can change anything, it's inside of us all
To reach out a hand now, oh, whenever we fall
It's time for the hero to stand tall

  It's a time for heroes
  Time to answer the call
It's a time for heroes to stand tall (oh, oh, oh)

It's a time for heroes (oh, oh, oh, oh)
When our back's to the wall
It's a time for heroes in us all

It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
Deep inside of our soul (deep inside of our soul)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)

  It's a time for heroes
  Time to answer the call
It's a time for heroes to stand tall (wo, oh, oh)

It's a time for heroes (oh, oh, oh, oh)
When our back's to the wall
  It's a time for heroes

It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
It's a time for heroes (it's a time for heroes)
     Electric Rumba
(Tour Du Monde En 45 Tours)
, 1987. Brian is rumoured to play guitar. Length 4:10.
Jose Lucas has claimed that Brian appears on the track, but Brian himself has no recollection of it. It is available on Youtube, and features a short Brian sounding guitar solo at around 3:10, but could well be another guitarist using a Red Special replica.
As this is a French language track, I am unable to provide the lyrics.

     Talking Of Love
, 1988. Brian wrote the track, produced, played guitar and sings backing vocals.
Available as track 1 on the album 'Talking Of Love', and also released as a single, with 'Sweet Talkin' as the B-side, which reached no. 43. 1. Album Version (3:41) (only available on the album)
  2. Single Version (3:23) (on the 7" and 12" singles only; this is a straight edit of the album version, from 0:18 onwards)
  3. Extended Version (5:17) (on the 12" single only; similar to the album version, but with additional instrumental sections) Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking
Baby I know what my poor heart needs
  But I'm talking

  Talking

  I should know better
  I've seen it all before
As a woman I guess I've always been my own woman
  I should be leaving
I should have the sense to say
Such a pleasant evening, thank you
  See you again someday

  But then my problem shows
I guess I'd like to know how it might really feel
  To be alone with you

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking
Baby I know what my poor heart needs
  But I'm talking
You know I'm talking of love

  I should know better
  What am I waiting for
If I lose my heart I'll only have myself to blame
But if you leave me now (if you leave me now)
You know I'll never know how to fall in love again

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking down it
Baby I know what my poor heart needs, but I'm talking
You know I'm talking of love
You know I'm talking of love

  You're talking business
  We're talking business
  And I need you so

  Forget your business
  None of your business
I get the feeling you know what I'm talking about

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking down it anyway
Baby I know what my poor heart needs
  But I'm talking
You know I'm talking of love

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm talking
  Talking

You know we're talking of love
The Last Time I Made Love
, 1988. Brian produced, played guitar, and sang backing vocals. Length 3:02.
Available as track 2 on the album 'Talking Of Love'. The first time I made love
  It wasn't love at all
  Didn't know what to feel
  It didn't seem real
  That's all I can recall

I thought that's all love is
Now I know so much more
  Now I know I've never
  Really made love before
I'll tell you when I leave
The last time I made love
  I made it with you

The first time we made love
It was all that it could be
  Your soul and mine
  So swivelled in time
  Blended perfectly

  The magic that we knew
  Is something that lives on
  Refusing to die
Why try to believe it's gone
  One truth is always true
The last time I made love
  I made it with you

  Now lovers come and go
Oooh, people get so sad so easily
But through it all I've seen
That no matter what I do
  When there's someone new
The last time I made love

  I made it with you
  Ooooh
     You Can't Stay The Night
, 1988. Brian produced and sang backing vocals. Length 4:46.
Available as track 3 on the album 'Talking Of Love'. You can't stay the night

You know I called you and said come on over
Well I just needed some company
I only wanted to cry on your shoulder
That don't mean you can stay with me

  'Cos I'm just not ready
To go through all that again
Maybe someday I'll want you to love me
But I'll tell you where and when

You can't stay the night, no, no, no
This is no way to start a new love affair
You can't stay the night, no, no, no
When I'm good and ready, babe
  You know I'll be there

  No you can't, you can't, you can't
  You can't stay the night

  I'm only human it's a new situation
  I'm attracted that's for sure
Don't make me feel I've got to yield to temptation
Don't you think I'm worth waiting for

  Things will work out better
If you'll just get in your car and go
And if I feel any different tomorrow
Baby, you'll be the first to know

You can't stay the night, no, no, no
This is no way to start a new love affair
  You can't stay the night
When I'm good and ready babe
  You know I'll be there

No you can't, no you can't, no you can't
  You can't stay the night

  You can't stay the night

So put your kings in your conflict (you can't stay the night)
And if there's fun there to learn (you can't stay the night)
Just to learn from the future
And I'll be the one to decide
When you can't stay the night
Oooh, you can't stay the night

  No
Get in your car and go
Oooh, you can't stay the night
  No
  I said no
  Go
  You can't stay the night
  Oh, I said no
  You can't stay the night
Oooh, you can't stay the night
Don't you know it's not right
No you can't, no you can't, no you can't

No you can't stay, I'm sorry
  You can't stay the night
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
  You can't stay the night

Oh, you can't stay the night
  No
  Just go home
  Goodbye
  The door's that way
That's the door to the bedroom
  I said no
     Funny Old Life Ain't It
, 1988. Brian co-wrote the track with Anita, produced, and sang backing vocals. Length 4:38.
Available as track 5 on the album 'Talking Of Love'.
This track is a sort of 'rap' by Anita, speaking with a heavy cockney accent. Life's a bitch, my mum's a witch
  My hamster died last night
  My brother's got flu
'Says he got it from you
  Funny old life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  A funny old life
  A funny life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  A funny old life
  A funny life ain't it

Hello, I'm glad you came round
I've been sitting here waiting for you for hours
  Where've you been?
Honestly, some people have got no sense of timing
And don't say nothin' horrible about my song
'Cos I'm gonna sing you another verse
So just wait till you've heard it, alright?
  Ready

  Don't school dinners stink
And I'd rather have a drink
And my dad's bent, brown and bitter
  Maggots rule
  Bum, bum school
  Funny old life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  It's a funny old life
  It's a funny life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  A funny old life
  A funny life ain't it

What do you reckon? Oh, don't say rubbish
Everybody says that, it's a really old verse
This is really important to me, I want to be a writer when I grow up
And don't tell me I'm gonna grow up
  Anyway, this is really good
It's for my school play, and I'm gonna do it at Christmas
My schoolteacher says she thinks I've got artistic flair - ey?
I said artistic flair, cloth ears

Listen, I'll do you another verse
  What do you think, alright?

I try to keep in my mum's good books
But I spilt it on her dress
I didn't know where the things should go
But I don't half like making a mess
'Cos life is really, really, really, terrible

  It's a funny old life
  Funny old life
  Funny life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  Funny old life
  Funny life ain't it

I think it's good, considering it's my first attempt
My teacher says, if I get through, you know, the auditions
'Cos I'm gonna perform it, you know, at high school
And if it is good, then she's gonna let me do it for real
She says I'll have to have a really nice dress
And my mum's gonna have to cough up a lot of money
And I'm gonna have to do my own make up
  That's a bit of a problem, really
'Cos I was watching my mum doing it the other day
You know, she's got these things that she sticks on her eyes
I think they call them false eyelashes
Women have false everything, don't they
My mum's got a false bra, false hairpiece, false eyelashes, false nails
Honestly, I reckon if she lost them all, my mum wouldn't be there at all

One of her eyelashes, the other day, I never told her, but
She dropped it down the side of the table
And I thought it was my pet spider
Anyway, my dad came in and he said 'what are you doing on the floor, girl'
I said dad, I've dropped my spider and mum's eyelashes have gone on the floor
  And I don't know which one's which
Anyway, cut a long story short, my dad stood on both of 'em
  So my spider's dead now
But my mum's eyelashes don't half look funny on her eyes

Anyway, I'll do you another verse
'Cos we're supposed to be working
This is my sort of fairly adventurous verse

I saw this film and it weren't half good
  All goodies riding about
They kept making noises, grunting noises
And it sounded really, really, really terrible

  Funny old life
  Funny old life
  Funny old life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  Funny old life
  Funny old life ain't it

  Do you wanna join in?
'Cos sometimes when you're feeling really miserable
If you have a little chant to yourself
It does make you feel better, don't it?
I'm gonna get the whole school to do it
The choir and the scout's group
I've already got all my mates to come round
But they just keep taking the Michael out of me
Have a go, with me, after three
  Three
  No wait a minute
After three - one - two - three - go

  It's a funny old life
  Funny old life
  Funny life ain't it

  It's a funny old life
  Funny old life
  Funny old life ain't it

My mum and dad have had a row
  They're just not speaking again
When I grow up I think I'm just
Gonna go and live at the end of my garden
  All on my own
  You know what?
Some people - I know this bloke
He lives in a cave, I think he's called a hermit
Anyway, he got so fed up of everybody being horrible to him
He just said 'I'm going to the garden to eat worms'
     Let Me In
 (Your Heart Again)
, 1988. Brian wrote the track, produced, played guitar and sang backing vocals. Length 3:53.
Available as track 6 on the album 'Talking Of Love'.
This track was previously recorded by Queen for the 1984 album 'The Works', but not completed. It was subsequently released on the 2014 compilation 'Forever', retitled 'Let Me In Your Heart Again'. When people talk of love, I'll join in conversation
I'll say I feel just fine, happy with my situation
But when I look away, people know my mind is spinning
To where I once belonged, I'll dream I'm in your heart again

  Let me in
Let me in your heart again

When love has let you down, I'll be your consolation
We'll talk and talk our lives, through every complication
But when you went away, you took my heart and soul away with you
But now I stand alone and dream I'm in your heart again

  Let me in
  Let me in
Let me in your heart again

So many nights we meet, in my imagination
And everywhere I turn, you're still my inspiration
Then yesterday you came, and turned my whole world upside down again
You won't hear me complaining, I'm back inside your heart again

  You let me in
  You let me in
You let me in your heart again

Oooh, you let me in your heart again
To Know Him Is To Love Him
, 1988. Brian played guitar, produced and sang backing vocals. Length 3:11.
Available as track 7 on the album 'Talking Of Love', and also released as a single, which failed to chart. To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  Just to see him smile
  Makes my life worthwhile
  To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  And I do

  I'll be good to him
  I'll bring love to him
Everyone says there'll come a day
  I'll walk alongside of him
  To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  And I do

  Why can't he see?
  How blind can he be?
  Someday he'll see
That he was meant for me, oh, oh

  To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  Just to see him smile
  Makes my life worthwhile
  To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  And I do
  Yes I do

  To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  Just to see him smile
  Makes my life worthwhile
  To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
  And I do
  Yes I do
  Yes I do
  Yes I do
Don't Fall In Love With Anybody Else
, 1988. Brian played guitar, produced, and sang backing vocals. Length 4:36.
Available as track 8 on the album 'Talking Of Love'. I'll bet the neon lights are shining
For you somewhere out in the dark
Nobody sees my eyes are crying
It's a private show but I'm playing the part

You're the one I dream about
In the night and when the stars come out
  You're the sunshine
You make my world for me

Don't fall in love with anybody else
'Cos anyday you'll find out for yourself
  Love is real
  And I believe it's true
I couldn't fall in love with anyone but you

I try to build my world around you
I believe in you, don't give up the fight
I'm not the only one who wants you
I wonder who you're holding tonight

By the phone that never rings
I'm alone with the pain you bring
  You're the heartache
  You're tearing my world apart

Don't fall in love with anybody else
'Cos anyday you'll find out for yourself
  Love is real
  And I believe it's true
I couldn't fall in love with anyone but you

  You're the wild one
You make my world for me

Don't fall in love with anybody else
'Cos anyday you'll find out for yourself
  Love is real
  And I believe it's true
I couldn't fall in love with anyone but you

Don't fall in love with anybody else
'Cos anyday you're gonna find out for yourself
  Love is real
  I do believe it's true
I couldn't fall in love with anyone but you

Don't fall in love with anybody else
     Sweet Talkin'
, 1988. Brian co-wrote the track with Anita, produced, played guitar and sang backing vocals. Length 4:30.
This track is only available as the B-side to the 'Talking Of Love' 7" single. It is very similar to the extended version of 'Talking Of Love', while the instrumental introduction features different vocals by Anita. Talkin'

Hi, it's me, where you been?
I've been waiting, but you never turned up
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to sit here - and wait
Could you tell me a story, go on, talk to me, please
Talk to me, I'm lonely, come on
Please, come on, I'll tell you a story, only I don't know any stories
What's your name? I'll tell you mine
Come on, talk to me, please talk to me
I want someone to talk to me

  Oh, I'll make you laugh
  Oh, I'll make you cry
  I'll make you feel good
I'll keep on talking, all night if you like
Come on, tell me, and I'll tell you
  That's all there is
Talk to me, talk to me, now, now
  Come on, come on
  That's better

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking
Baby I know what my poor heart needs
  But I'm talking
You know I'm talking of love

  I should know better
  What am I waiting for
If I lose my heart I'll only have myself to blame
But if you leave me now (if you leave me now)
You know I'll never know how to fall in love again

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking down it
Baby I know what my poor heart needs, but I'm talking
You know I'm talking of love
You know I'm talking of love

  You're talking business
  We're talking business
  And I need you so

  Forget your business
  None of your business
I get the feeling you know what I'm talking about

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm walking
  Walking down it anyway
Baby I know what my poor heart needs
  But I'm talking
You know I'm talking of love

Baby I know where this road leads, but I'm talking
  Talking

I love you, I just love you
  That's what it's all about
You know we're talking of love
Let Your Heart Rule Your Head
   , 1988.
This track began as a duet with Brian and was intended for Lonnie Donegan's new studio album. Neither the album, nor song, ever materialised, but Brian reworked for the track for his 1992 album 'Back To The Light'.
     Cassandra
, 1988. Brian sings some lead vocals, alongside Chris Thompson. Length 4:07.
Available on the 2000 album 'Feedback '86', and as a bonus track on the USA CD version of 'Guitar Noir'.
Apparently a number of 'Work In Progress' versions are available, though I am not sure whether these have been officially released or not.
The track was re-recorded in 1992 for the 'Unauthorised Biography' album with Steve Hackett on vocals, and lasts 3:41. I don't know whether this second version features Brian or not, but it is unlikely. Gimme a sign
  You know about the future
Tell me the reason why you look oh so sad
  Somewhere in time another premonition
  Or is it the memory
Of what happened in the past

  Cassandra - when you cry
  Cassandra - a legend dies
  Cassandra - stay the night
  Cassandra - till sunrise

Open the door if you can brave the danger
Haven't you seen right now what lies ahead
Nobody listens till it's too late to change it
  Or was it suspicion
  No matter what you said

  Cassandra - when you cry
  Cassandra - a legend dies
  Cassandra - stay the night
  Cassandra - till sunrise

     Don't Fall Away From Me
, 1988. Brian co-produced the track and may play guitar. Length 3:36.
This track was released a bonus track on the 1992 album 'The Unauthorised Biography'.
According to the sleeve notes, Brian also worked on a track called 'Don't Fall In Love With Me', which is unreleased. Part of that song inspired this track, and the two worked on it together, but Brian left to work on other projects before it could be completed, leaving Steve to complete the track. Winds of change are blowing constantly
Watch the leaves that fall from every tree
  Don't fall away from me

With your eyes you promise sanctuary
  All that's left is mediocrity
  Don't fall away
  Don't fall away from me

Thoughts that run away, she'll be back some day for my love
Seeds that take the root, later they'll hold fruit
Show your love, please turn around

Evening falling on an unmade bed
Each new morning finds our love is dead
  Don't fall away
  Don't fall away from me

Thoughts that run away, she'll be back some day for my love
Seeds that take the root, later they'll hold fruit
Show your love, please turn around

You were there when all hope was gone
I was drowning in my pride
You were still by my side
When others doubted, could not see
  You still believed in me
Your love was an open door
  What I'd been looking for
You gave me all you had to give
  A reason now to live
  I know it's crazy but it's true
  Oh, how I love you

  Love's a word that's kicked around
Too many times it lets you down
You see, your love is safe with me

A whole lotta love and tenderness
Heart and soul, all I possess
  I was born
  Born to love you

A whole lotta love and tenderness
Heart and soul, all I possess
  I was born
  Born to love you

I was a prisoner now of dreams
They are never all they seem
  Lost in a fool's paradise
Till you came into my life
All the heartache and the pain
I will face it all again
  It's true
Oh God, how I love you

A whole lotta love and tenderness

Got to say it, got to say it anyway
Love can you lie, spin you round
Break your heart and shoot you down

When we make love, you never speak
When passion's gone, you just wanna sleep
You dance the dance, so many times
I still can see what's on your mind

  I can't take another day
Got to face it, won't go away
  We can't pretend
  Is this the end?

What about love? You're out of my life
What about love? No more lonely nights
What about love? No more the fool you see
What about love? I'm breaking free

You take it all, I'm in deep
What do you get, the secrets that you keep
Lost the tune, forgot the song
All yourself, can't you see something's wrong?

You've played me out, played it cool
This boy is back, I ain't playing by the rules
Love can lie, spin you round
  Break your heart
Break your heart and shoot you down

  I can't take another day
Got to face it, won't go away
  We can't pretend
  Is this the end?
